fox 5's lauren demarco is thrive -- live there now with the latest. good morning to you. >> good morning. things continuing to escalate here. waves certainly picking up in height and definitely more forceful at this time here so hurricane sandy definitely making herself felt along the boardwalken we are at 17th street just a little bit further south. we are seeing some of the waves breach the wall. now, earlier, we had been driving around and taking a look at some of the flooded roads. we have a lot of high standing water on the roads right now. if you are trying to drive in on route 50, route 50 is shut down at the entrance to ocean city. 90 does remain open. everything south of 17th street also closed and there were mandatory evacuations there although we're told about 200 people did choose to stay. the latest that tucker was saying with that track heading closer to us, hopefully, those folks are hunkered down and being safe. definitely seeing heavy waves at the pier. a police officer pulled up to see what we were doing. we were shooting the video.
